Workshop on Developing a Cochrane Systematic Review
15 - 17January 2014
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
Baltimore, Maryland
We are very excited about the upcoming systematic review workshop and look forward to meeting you in Baltimore!
In preparation for the workshop (Revised agenda):
We asked that you submit a title or question of interest to explore during the workshop sessions. Please feel free to bring any related materials with you to work on during the workshop (e.g., title registration forms, drafts of protocol, review). During the small group sessions on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, workshop faculty will be available to provide assistance with your systematic review topic (e.g., framing your question, protocol development). Please take a moment to write down any questions that you may have for the group facilitators.
Small Group Sessions – please note that group and room assignments may change so check your workshop packet upon arrival:
Group 1: Mrs. Kristina Lindsley (W3008)
Group 2: Dr. Xue Wang (W3030)
Group 3: Drs. Ian Saldanha and Xuan Hui (W3031)
Group 4: Dr. Kay Dickersin (W4007)
Group 5: Dr. Gianni Virgili (W4013)
Group 6: Mrs. Lori Rosman (W4019)
We have selected the CATT Study, a landmark, randomized controlled trial comparing ranibizumab with bevacizumab for the treatment of neovascular AMD for the workshop risk of bias assessment, data extraction, and Review Manager (RevMan) exercises. The data extraction exercise will also include a brief discussion of other related trials: IVAN 2013 and Subramanian 2010. Please familiarize yourself with these trial reports (see links below).
For your "homework" assignment on Wednesday night 15 January 2014 ("due" on Thursday), we will ask you to complete a Characteristics of Included Studies Table for the CATT Study. We have provided the link to the table here for quick reference, but will also distribute copies during the workshop. We will discuss the table during the risk of bias assessment exercise session on Thursday.
